US soft red winter wheat pangenome development

Wheat

This project is aimed at developing a high quality pangenome representation of wheat lines grown in the eastern United States. This model will serve as a reference for gene characterization, trait discovery, and marker development which will improve breeders’ ability to evaluate their germplasm and select improved varieties. As a survey of local material, the pangenome will also help measure local gene diversity and develop targets for introducing exotic material into US wheat breeding programs. Read More
